Top Crater

A unique experience at the summit craters of Etna, in complete safety, accompanied by authorized volcanological guides.

Departures available from:

• Etna North – Piano Provenzana: 8:30 / 9:00 AM
• Etna South – Rifugio Sapienza: 9:00 AM

The choice of slope depends on the weather and volcanological conditions of the day.

By cable car and/or off-road vehicles, we will reach an altitude of 2,800 m, the starting point of the trek.
From here, the ascent to the summit craters of Etna begins, immersed in a spectacular volcanic landscape: active fumaroles, recent lava flows, and unique geological formations will accompany us to the summit, at an altitude of 3,300 m.

Once at the summit, we'll walk along the rim of the Central Crater, overlooking the active vents within. We'll also get a close-up view of the famous Southeast Crater, the site of the most recent eruptions.

In addition to the active craters, the landscape is dominated by yellow and white solfataras, gaseous emissions, and solidified black lava that tells the living history of the volcano.

An intense and breathtaking experience, capable of conveying the full power and beauty of Etna.

The return journey will take place along a picturesque trail through fine volcanic ash and lava scoria, with spectacular views of the Sicilian coast.

Once we return to approximately 2,800 m, we will return by:

• cable car (if departing from Etna South)
• 4x4 bus (if departing from Etna North)

This itinerary, due to its type and altitude, is suitable for people in good physical health who do not suffer from any particular medical conditions (strongly not recommended for those with cardiovascular, respiratory, or hypertension problems).

• Authorized volcanological guide
• Cable car and/or special 4x4 vehicles (round trip) from an altitude of 1,800 meters to an altitude of 2,820 meters.

In case of adverse weather conditions, we will notify you of the cancellation or postponement of your excursion as soon as possible.

The excursion will take place with a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 10 people.
