Stromboli Excursions

 

Sunset hike up to 400 meters (group)

The excursion starts directly from the village; shortly after, you reach the “old cemetery”, a small group of graves dating back to the early 1900s, surrounded by lush vegetation. Climbing along a beautiful trail, you reach an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. From here, you can safely observe the fascinating explosions of the craters at a distance of about 350/400 meters in a straight line, as well as the famous “Sciara del Fuoco”. After a long break, you will return to the village via the Punta Labronzo mule track.

PLEASE NOTE THAT TO TAKE PART IN SUNSET EXCURSIONS IT IS NECESSARY TO STAY OVERNIGHT IN STROMBOLI, AS THERE ARE NO DEPARTURES FROM THE ISLAND AFTER THE RETURN TIME.

Mandatory equipment

The helmet and headlamp are mandatory but provided free of charge by our organization.

Hiking shoes are also essential for the ascent. At departure, the Guide will check participants’ footwear and, if necessary, will provide suitable shoes to those who need them. Considering that in the height of summer, even in the late afternoon, temperatures are very high, it is essential to bring enough water (1.5 – 2 liters) to stay hydrated during the hike. Also bring small snacks and/or fruit to replenish sugars and mineral salts.

As evening approaches, it will be necessary to have a dry T‑shirt, long trousers, and a sweatshirt.

Trekking poles are not mandatory but recommended; on steep sections, they help maintain balance and allow arms and shoulders to assist during the walking movement.

The meeting point will be at the Stromboli Fire Trekking headquarters in Via Soldato F. Natoli, where, after a small welcome aperitif, the initial instructions will be given and helmets and headlamps will be distributed.
